Redefining Marriage

While reading the Supreme Court proceedings regarding the legalization of gay marriage I couldn't shake the feelings and thoughts regarding the passion and determination these people have for "equal" marriage rights.  And I say equal with quotations because it really isn't.  Changing the way marriage occurs does not create equality for all, but rather creates a ripple effect of change and perceived inequality that may never be stopped.

Redefining marriage devalues the traditional and creates an opening for any marriage to be deemed acceptable.  The union between a man and a woman is no longer the correct way, but just one of many ways people can be united with another person.  What happens when someone fights for the equality of a man to marry an animal, or a child, or an inanimate object?  Ripples can't be stopped, but rather go on and on until they fade.  I think that by attempting to make all feel equal within marriage by redefining it is only creating a ripple effect, where eventually marriage will fade completely.

Because I am a Latter-Day Saint I believe in marriage between a man and a woman.  If you are interested in knowing more regarding my beliefs you can follow this link:
